Some ideas don’t begin at a desk. They begin in the middle of real life.

In kitchens full of lunchboxes. In cars on the way to sport practice. In the quiet moments after a long day when a parent wonders, Am I doing this right?

Ourora was born in those moments.

My name is Toni Pirini — I’m a mother of eight, a registered teacher, and someone who has spent years walking alongside whānau as they navigate the beautiful, messy journey of raising children.

And if there is one thing I know for certain, it’s this:

Parenting is the most important work in the world…and sometimes it can feel incredibly lonely.

Ourora exists to gently remind parents that they are not alone.

Why I Started Writing

The books I’ve created didn’t start as a business idea.

They started as conversations I kept having with parents.

New mums who felt overwhelmed. Parents wondering if they were doing enough. Families navigating big feelings, tired nights, and growing children.

I realised something important:

Parents don’t need more pressure. They need encouragement, practical tools, and someone in their corner.

So I started writing the kind of books I wished every parent had sitting on their bedside table.

Books that say:

You are doing better than you think. Your child is learning. Your whānau is growing.

And you’ve got this.

Growing a Mum – From Overwhelmed to Empowered

Motherhood changes everything.

It stretches us in ways we never imagined. It asks us to grow alongside our children.

Growing a Mum – From Overwhelmed to Empowered was written for the quiet moments when mothers question themselves.

This book offers:

• encouragement for the motherhood journey

• support for new mums navigating identity and wellbeing

• gentle reflections on parenting and personal growth

• practical reassurance during the early years of motherhood

It’s the kind of book you can pick up on a hard day and feel like someone understands.

Because motherhood doesn’t come with a manual — but it helps to have someone walking beside you.

The Dream Palace — Bedtime Stories Inspired by Real Children

At the end of busy days in our house, bedtime stories became something magical.

Children’s imaginations are extraordinary places.

They dream about adventures, inventions, flying machines, animals, secret worlds and silly ideas that only make sense when you’re six, eight, or eleven.

That’s where The Dream Palace series came from.

Each story is inspired by my own children and the worlds they imagine when they drift off to sleep.

The books are designed to help children:

• settle into bedtime• explore imagination and creativity

• feel brave inside their own stories

• see pieces of themselves reflected in the characters

They’re gentle, whimsical bedtime stories created to make that final moment of the day feel special.

Because sometimes the best conversations with our children happen just before sleep.

Why is motherhood so overwhelming?

Motherhood can feel overwhelming because it asks us to grow in ways we never expected. Alongside caring for a baby or raising children, mothers often carry the emotional responsibility, decision fatigue, sleep disruption, and constant mental load of family life.

Feeling overwhelmed doesn’t mean you are failing — it means you are navigating one of the most transformative seasons of life.

Books like Growing a Mum – From Overwhelmed to Empowered were created to support mothers through this exact experience, offering encouragement and practical reflection during the motherhood journey.

What helps when motherhood feels overwhelming?

When motherhood feels overwhelming, small shifts can help restore steadiness. Lowering expectations, asking for help, taking short moments of rest, and connecting with supportive voices can make a real difference.

Many mothers find comfort in reading reflections from others who have walked the same path and understand the ups and downs of raising children.

This is the heart behind Growing a Mum – From Overwhelmed to Empowered — reminding mothers that they are not alone and that growth is happening even on the messy days.
